Bridging Safety and Culture: sureVIVE and I.R.S. with Hansa Medica Group at the Grand Egyptian Museum

As the world anticipates the long-awaited opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum this November, a remarkable collaboration between sureVIVE and I.R.S. is taking shape in Cairo.

Coordinated by Hansa Medica Group – the official operator for the Grand Egyptian Museum Clinics – this partnership is setting new standards for medical safety, cultural protection, and emergency response systems in one of the most historically significant sites on Earth.

Rooted in Purpose

Mo El-Attar, CEO and founder of I.R.S., describes the partnership as a powerful convergence between cultural heritage and modern technology.

Born in Germany with Egyptian roots, Mo brings a unique blend of technical expertise and cultural understanding to the project.

Within the massive museum complex—employing over 1,500 staff members—the goal was clear: to establish a fast, reliable, and user-friendly emergency response system that could operate seamlessly in real-time, regardless of language barriers or technical experience.

His initial motivation, he explains, was to bring back the knowledge and expertise he had built in Europe and connect it to his home country. This project offered the perfect opportunity to do so in a meaningful way by linking people, knowledge, and purpose.

That sense of purpose quickly spread among everyone involved. Mo described how the team began introducing the project to the museum staff, organizing BLS-AED (Basic Life Support- Automated External Defibrillator) training sessions and explaining how to respond swiftly in the event of a medical emergency.

"I realized in the courses that the people are very, very thankful for the knowledge in a general way, not because they're working here. It was quite a cool discussion, and it became like a spirit from all the people working around to get connected with the purpose of being medical safe in the place."

Mo further reflected on how thankful and proud he was to see the program’s value recognized and welcomed from the very beginning. He noted how all the different responsible departments and private companies involved in shaping the whole system of the GEM prioritized the project and supported the development of a structured and systematic approach to medical safety.

Protecting History Through Innovation

Implementing a safety system on a site of this scale came with immense challenges. The Grand Egyptian Museum is not only the largest museum in the world, but also a living archive of civilization housing priceless artifacts and monumental spaces.

“It is quite a challenging thing to do because it's quite new for special groups in Egypt to look at it in a medical safety way, not only in a security safety way, so what we do now in the Egyptian Museum was like a big chance to connect those points together because there are so many entities which are in this museum from normal security, from tourism, from official entities, authorities, so it was quite challenging to connect all these things together and embed it into a good system which would be sustaining.”

Building on Experience

The collaboration has opened new possibilities for future initiatives in the field of safety and cultural preservation.

“I have an expertise connected together for 20 years now and it would be great to bring this knowledge back to my home country,” Mo says. “So, we are monitoring the whole project from [the] outside and trying to bring in companies like sureVIVE or professional operators for special purposes inside this project.”

The initiative reflects sureVIVE’s strong commitment to safety — bringing reliable emergency response wherever it is needed, not only in mountain areas, but in any environment where lives may depend on quick action.

Looking Ahead

For sureVIVE, this collaboration marks an important step forward. As work begins with I.R.S. at the Grand Egyptian Museum, the project is already showing how technology and teamwork have the potential to make a lasting difference in protecting both people and culture.

As the museum opens its doors, we are proud to see this project come to life and ready to keep building solutions that make safety more connected, efficient, and accessible everywhere.
